The Art Evolution Gallery has added a piece of art to the landscape in Historic Downtown Cochrane.
“Coffee Time” is a life-size sculpture by Calgary Stampede Hall of Fame artist Vilem Zach and is now on display in front of the gallery.
“I’m really proud of it,” said Zach. “I think it’s a cowboy town and it should have some cowboy sculpture.”
Since 1977, Zach has showcased his work at the Calgary Stampede. His life-size sculptures and larger-than-life monuments are on display in various tourist destinations and are also part of private collections.
“With sculpting and casting you could say it took me a little bit over a year, let’s say a year and three months.”
The piece of art was unveiled during a ceremony which featured Mayor Jeff Genung having the honour of the grand reveal.
“Arts, culture, and history are all things that weave into the fabric that make Cochrane so special and can often get overlooked and left behind. It’s really been a focus of ours to try and bring things like this to our community and to have a local business do it on its own, It’s just awesome.”
“Coffee Time” will remain on display in front of Art Evolution Gallery and is available for purchase.
