Low-income workers to receive first enhanced Canada Workers Benefit payments

low and modest-income Canadian workers will start getting some extra cash on Thursday with the first of three advance payments of the 2023 Canada Workers Benefit going out to more than four million workers.

The benefit designed for people and families who work but don’t make enough money, will provide up to $2,616 for families and up to $1,518 for single workers, with the amounts based on income reported in the previous year’s tax return.The next payments are scheduled for October 12 and January 12, 2024. The remaining half will arrive after recipients file their 2023 taxes early next year.You are eligible if you are:

Over 19 years old on December 31 or live with a spouse or common-law partner or your child,
Are a resident of Canada throughout the year, and
Are working but earning less than the net income level set for your province or territory of residence.

Workers who received the Canada Workers Benefit last year will automatically receive their advance payments.
