The Airdrie Food Bank has put out a call to the public for help as they are in dire need. The shelves are bare and stockpiles are diminished to the lowest levels they have seen in a long time, according to the food bank.
Over the past year, they also saw 620 more families. The food bank is also currently experiencing something it has never eperienced before, which is turning down volunteers who want to help sort food just because they don’t have the inventory.
Members of the public that want to lend a hand can do so with the upcoming Citywide Food Drive on September 16. This food drive is crucial for the food bank.
Some of the essential items that are used to fill the shelves but are now bare include soup, baked beans, pancake mix, syrup, Kraft Dinner, side dishes,
peanut butter and jam.
