September 1 is Alberta Day, dedicated to celebrating the province’s rich history, spirit, and culture.

A part of the celebration in Calgary will be free admission to Heritage Park.

Heritage Park shares the history of Calgary through an emersed experience that takes visitors back in time with programing for all ages.

Along with the night market, there will be a drone show and music performances from The Traveling Mabels, Calgary’s own Heebee-jeebees, John Wort Hannam and Nice Horse.

The Park will also feature Métis and First Nation programing.

Strategic Communications Manager for Heritage Park Dominic Terry, shared with CJWE the Indigenous Programming that will be taking place at the park.

Even though admission to the park and steam locomotive will be free, ride bracelets for the antique midway rides along with admission for the historic paddle boat “the S.S. Moyie” are required due to their limited capacity.

The park is anticipating close to 20-thousand people to enter the grounds and take part in the Alberta Day celebration throughout the day.

Heritage Park is asking guests to take transit or use ride shares to the park due to limited parking at the park.

In partnership with the City of Calgary, direct shuttle busses will be available with transit transfers from the Heritage LRT station.

Details about Alberta Day at Heritage Park found on the park’s website.
