Last year, the Windspeaker Radio Network and Edmonton Elks made history by broadcasting the first ever CFL game in the Cree language.
This year, history will once again be made as CFWE/CJWE will broadcast the Labor Day rematch between the Edmonton Elks and Calgary Stampeders in Cree and Blackfoot.
This years broadcast will feature Wayne Jackson providing the Cree portion and Butch Wolfleg, providing the Blackfoot portion.
Butch Wolfleg has done Blackfoot broadcasts with CJWE and the Calgary Hitmen in years past.
When asked about this game, Wolfleg mentioned there’s alot of unknown however he knows members of Treaty 7 will be ecstatic to hear the Blackfoot language on a CFL broadcast.
Wayne Jackson is no stranger to Edmonton sports, making history last year with the CFL Cree broadcast and the Edmonton Stingers Cree broadcast. Jackson says this year he’s coming into this game with much more research.
Kickoff is at 5pm, you can listen live with CJWE or CFWE.
