We’re growing and expanding our team, and as part of this exciting growth, we are currently hiring a Full Time Community News Reporter in our Calgary office. If you’re passionate about delivering impactful local news and serving your community, we want to hear from you!

CJWE broadcasts across Southern Alberta, including Calgary (88.1 FM – HD Channel 1), Lethbridge (103.5 FM) & Medicine Hat (106.3 FM)


Position Description
  • Be a part of the community, live, work, and play here
  • Researching and writing provincial news stories
  • Voice tracking broadcasts, as required
  • Represent the radio station at community events
  • Creating web stories for our websites and social media platforms
  • Continuously seek multimedia storytelling opportunities, while covering events that will enhance our coverage and content across all platforms
  • Update and research community events for Public Service/Community Calendar
  • Participant in weekly news meetings
  • Traveling to communities we serve
  • Other duties as assigned by management

 

Position Requirements

Newsroom experience or applicable broadcast education

Awareness of Indigenous culture & issues

Strong on-air delivery

The ability to work within a fast-paced environment both individually and as a team

A valid driver’s license

Familiarity with Adobe Audition & Wide Orbyt

Ability to use social media (X, Instagram, Facebook, Socast etc.)
