For the first time in TD banks history, a branch was opened in the Tsuut’ina Nation’s new Buffalo run shopping distract that is fully Indigenous Staffed.
The ceremony included a blessing from a Tsuut’ina Elder, round dance, grand entry into the new building and a $5,000 dollar donation to the Tsuut’ina Food Bank.
TD opened this branch as part of the organization’s response to the TRC Call to action 92.
Call to action 92 calls upon corporations in Canada and the United States to apply reconciliation as part of its framework and apply its principles, norms and standards to corporate policy.
TD Diversity Signing Partner Carrol Edmund, shared with CJWE how TD has been applying this call to their organization.

To help lead the new branch, TD called on a former Indigenous employee Jamie Albrecht who was retired to see if she’d be interested in becoming its manager.
Albrecht explained why she put her golf game on hold to re-join the work force.

The new branch operates within the regular banking of TD and for those who visit the new branch will see Indigenous murals around the interior to help the community feel at home when visiting the branch.
