Warnings have been issued to residents of Tsuut’ina Nation and Bragg Creek due to a potential injured cougar in the area.

On October 26 reports came in after pet dogs in the Town of Bragg Creek and on the Tsuut’ina Nation were killed by a cougar that was spotted in the area.

Local officials are asking residents to be aware of their surroundings, carry bear spray on them and keep their pets close as the cougar has killed six dogs.

The dogs varied in size with one of them being a large rottweiler.

Officials report that all the attacks on the dogs happened during the early morning and late at night.

Alberta Fish and Wildlife have set traps in the area along with marking where the cougar was last spotted.

If you spot the cougar call Fish and Wildlife at 403-297-6423 and for emergencies call 9-1-1.
