With fresh snow hitting southern Alberta over the past week, the rocky mountain town of Banff is gearing up for one of its longest winter traditions.

The SnowDays Festival is a four-week winter celebration with live performances from local artists preforming along Bear Street where there will also be larger than life snow Sculptures and Skijoring in the heart of downtown Banff kick off the opening weekend.

CJWE spoke with Kristina MacDonald of Banff Lake Louise Tourism about what visitors can expect for the 2024 festival.

One of the biggest highlights of the winter celebration is the world class ice sculptures brought to life on the shores of Lake Louise by the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Because of the limited space in Lake Louise and to help avoid over crowding, the 2024 Ice Magic Ice Sculptures will only be available during the nights of Jan. 26-28 and Feb. 2-4 with the purchase of a ticket.

Banff Lake Louise Tourism asks visitors to the Bow Valley to plan ahead as both Banff and Lake Louise have limited parking spaces available.

While shuttles for Ice Magic are available for ticket holders, the Bow Valley’s local transit service ROAM will be operating during the winter celebration.
