The mountain town of Banff has come to life as the town’s winter festival is in full swing.
With people from around the world embracing the nippy air, talents of athleticism and creativity gave those who braved the weather a day of astonishment.
The 100-block of Banff Avenue was made into a skijoring course which was made by snow makers of the Lake Louise Ski Hill as part of Banff’s Snow Days Festival in conjunction with a skijoring exhibition organized and displayed by Skijor Canada.
While the thrill of skijoring is the speed a skier can get for either their trick or jump safety is prioritized above all.
Course Veterinarian and horse rider Erin Thomson explained how they prepare the horses for such an event.
Meanwhile throughout the core of Banff’s Downtown, snow sculptures were being brought to life with the theme of Banff’s small creatures.
Professional Snow Sculptor Susanne Ruseler shared the difference between sculptures made of snow and those made of ice as well a bit about her sculpture titled Taking it Slow.
Other parts of the town in the Highschool field is a free winter playground with sledding, tubing and a fat bike obstacle course so families have a chance to play in the snow with wood fires for those needing a break from walking in the cold.
The Banff Snow Festival will be taking place until the beginning of February with Bear Street coming to alive as more sculptures come to life to dazzle all who look upon them.
