On Feb. 27, over 800 athletes from across Canada gathered in Calgary for the opening ceremony which signaled the start of the 2024 Calgary Special Winter Olympics.
These Olympics are to celebrate athletes with are neuro diverse as they show they have what it takes to be champions in their sport.
Not only will does the 2024 special Olympics bring $9-million dollars worth of revenue to the city of Calgary, but it is also the largest Special Winter Olympics in Canadian history to date.
Various events will be taking place through the Calgary area until Sunday March 2, with Floor Hockey and Figure Skating taking place at the Jim Starlight Memorial Centre and Sportplex in the Tsuut’ina Nation.
