On March 15 around 8:30 p.m., the 30-hour standoff between Police and a man who barricaded himself in a Penbrooke Meadows has ended.
Due to failed negotiations and situation that escalated resulted in an engagement with Police who exchanged fire and ended with the suspect dead.
A few hours later Police deemed the situation resolved and residents where able to return home along with the shelter-in-place being lifted.
The investigation is still ongoing and has been taken over by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team due to circumstances of Police discharging their weapons.

On March 14 at approximately 3:30 p.m., CPS Tactical Unit was executing a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation at a home on the 300 block of Penswood Way S.E.
Before CPS could execute the warrant, shots were fired from the residence at police who had barricaded himself inside the residence.
Due to the threat to public safety a shelter-in-place order was placed and nearby residents where evacuated as the situation developed.
CPS Has reported there were no injuries.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., CPS posted on their X page that the situation was still on-going along with negotiations with the man inside the home.
March 15 the stay-at-home order is still in affect however, school in the area are still open but those attending James Short Memorial School and G.W. Skene School will have to use 53 Street S.E. to Penbrooke Drive S.E. as CPS closed off a large section of Memorial Drive Road from 52 Street S.E. to 68 Street S.E.
Alberta RCMP are on the scene assisting CPS and will be switching off with CPS officers for a shift change.
