Cochrane RCMP conduct traffic stop which leads to seizure of drugs and weapon

A Calgary man faces multiple drug and weapon charges after crews conducted a routine traffic stop led to the seizure of drugs and a loaded pistol.

On June 16th RCMP stopped a vehicle for window tint and an aggressive U-turn. One of the responding officers found open liquor with cannabis within arms reach of the driver. The search found the pistol and what crews believe to be drugs and drug paraphernalia.

A 37 year old Calgary man was charged with a slew of crimes including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule 1 substance.

Following a bail hearing, the accused was remanded into custody. He’s scheduled to appear in court June 25 in Cochrane.
