Residents of the city of Chestermere have spoken and they elected a new Mayor and three new city councilors in a by-election, yesterday, after former Mayor Jeff Colvin and three councilors were removed from office for improperly governing the city.
Shannon Dean won the by-election with a resounding 3559 votes, and that was more votes than the other three candidates combined.
Former councilors Mel Foat, Blaine Funk and Stephen Hanley, all sought re-election but were denied by Chestermere voters.
The four dismissed politicians will now have to answer in court as the City of Chestermere is suing them for misappropriating over $655 000 of taxpayer’s money.
