On Friday The City of Calgary announced Millennium Park will be renamed and rebranded as ‘Cowboys Park’. The 10-year naming and sponsorship came about after a deal with the owner of Cowboys Dance Hall and Cowboys Music Festival.
Commencing in 2025, Millennium Park will become the new home of the Cowboys Music Festival, situated at Ninth Avenue S.W. and 11th Street S.W. The park spans about seven hectares, boasting 75,000 square feet of skateable surface.
Paul Vickers, the owner of Cowboys Dance Hall said the vision is to work in partnership with the city to upgrade and enhance the park site to welcome more community use and to attract more local and international festivals.
We look forward to contributing to the revitalization of Calgary’s downtown core by programming unique and exciting events and festivals this city has never seen. We will help drive the economy, create more vibrancy downtown and bolster tourism to the city and province all year round. – Paul Vickers, owner and founder of Cowboys Dance Hall
According to a news release from The City of Calgary, the revamped park is expected to attract over 100,000 visitors each year for national and international events. Additionally, tens of thousands of people are projected to enjoy the park’s amenities.
The city announced plans to upgrade the current infrastructure, including the stage, amphitheatre, waterfall, clock tower, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as laser lights in 2025. Further upgrades to the park are being planned for 2025 and beyond.
