Vehicle collision leaves one man dead by Town of Nanton

Early morning on August 14 at approximately 4:30 a.m., Nanton RCMP responded to a vehicle collision on Highway 2 involving a semi-truck transporting ammonium nitrate.

Emergency Responders quickly shut down bother lanes on Highway 2 by Township Roads 170 and 164 with traffic being detoured through alternative routes.

Upon arrival to the site of the collision, the 31-year-old driver of the semi was pronounced deceased by First Responders.

RCMP and crews remain on scene to ensure the secession of Highway 2 is safe for the public to travel through.

The identity of the driver has not been released as RCMP contact the family of the deceased and are asking the public to use alternative routes of travel through the secession of highway as it remains closed off.
