The City of Calgary is looking for volunteers from Indigenous communities within the Treaty 7 Region to fill 20 positions on the Boards, Commissions and Committees to provide prospective and recommendations on important civic issues in Calgary.
Devin Siebold, Indigenous Strategy Liaison with the City of Calgary spoke with CJWE on the excitement of the volunteer opportunity and adds that it’s important to have a diverse and inclusiveness within the City of Calgary board is important.

Siebold speaks on what the volunteer position and requirements are needed which includes a desire to give back to the community and wanting to elevate awareness of issues for under-represented groups within the city.
Siebold adds that the volunteer opportunity is a two-way street for the City of Calgary and council benefits removing barriers for civic participation to contribute to good inclusive governance and strengthening the relationship with Indigenous people with honoring calls to action for Truth and Reconciliation and actively work to address systemic racism and discrimination.
Siebold is hopeful that selected volunteers feel that they are making a positive impact within the city their community while having fun and making new friendships along the way.
