An Edmonton man is dead following an early morning collision north of Airdrie.
On Sunday morning at 6:15, Airdrie RCMP responded to the fatal collision two kilometers north of Veterans Boulevard along Highway 2.
Although Airdrie RCMP ‘s investigation into the collision is ongoing, preliminary findings suggest that a south bound car left the road surface and rolled. While rolling off the road surface it impacted a south bound van causing the two vehicles to be disabled, coming to rest in the north bound ditch.
The 56 year old driver from Edmonton was pronounced deceased at the scene, while his 10-year-old male passenger was flown by STARS Air Ambulance to Calgary, and is listed in stable condition.
The driver and only occupant of the southbound car, a 25-year-old male resident of Calgary, was transported to the Foothills Medical Centre in serious condition.
