The city of Calgary isĀ inviting all Calgarians to join us at The Confluence on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to commemorate Orange Shirt Day.
This event is free and open to the public.
Orange Shirt Day is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about the history and ongoing impacts of the Indian residential school system in Canada. While there are opportunities throughout the year to learn about the history of the residential school system, this day is dedicated to honouring the children who were sent to residential schools in Canada and remember those who never returned home.
The city of Calgary encourages everyone to wear orange to show their support for Orange Shirt Day.
