Have you tested the radon levels in your home?
The City of Lethbridge is teaming up with Take Action on Radon to raise awareness about household radon gas.
Radon gas exposure is the leading cause of lung cancer to non-smokers in Canada. It is invisible, odourless and tasteless, and a radon test kit is the only way to know whether the levels in your home could pose a health risk to you and your family.
As such, residents are invited to participate in the Radon Test Kit Challenge. This free program includes a virtual information session that covers the health effects of radon and Health Canada’s recommendations for homeowners, as well as a radon test kit for each household who registers. Test kits will be available for the first 100 registrants.
Residents can sign up to receive a test kit at the city of Lethbridge website. There will be a virtual information session will take place Wednesday, November 13 at 7 p.m. This session is open to the public.
Test kits can be picked up at the Planning & Design counter on the first floor of City Hall from November 14-22 and must be returned March 3-7, 2025.
