Emergency responders along with Mothers Against Drunk Driver (MADD Canada) have officially launched Project Red Ribbon Campaign.
The Campaign, which runs from November 1 to January 8, focuses to spread awareness during the holiday months about the dangers of impaired driving.
One of the ways MADD and their partners across the country are raising the warnings of impaired driving is by displaying a red ribbon car decals as a visual reminder for drivers to be sober when they get behind the wheel of a vehicle.
Since 2021, the Calgary Police service has conducted over six thousand road stops related to impaired driving in the city of Calgary limits.
Acting Deputy Chief of the Calgary Police Service Joe Brar explains how the service will be acting on this awareness.
Impaired driving can be avoided by having a sober designated driver, using a ride share like a taxi or, have a sober person pick you up so you get home safely.
