Calgary Police have charged a woman who is believed to have embezzled more than $125,000 while serving as a treasurer for a Calgary-based girls fastball association.

Between 2019 and June 2023, the woman served as a vice president and a treasurer on the association’s board, where she was entrusted with access to and signing authority for its bank accounts.

On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, the two board members reported the suspected fraud to police.

Following a thorough investigation, an officer discovered the woman had embezzled more than $125,000 between 2021 and 2023 by depositing cheques and e-transfers from the association’s accounts into three separate bank accounts held in her name.

As a result, Leilani CALMUSKY, 45, of Calgary, has been charged with defrauding a person over $5,000 and breach of trust.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024.
