Calgary Folk Music Festival’s Block Heater is back for its 10th year

The 10th Annual Block Heater Music Festival returns February 14-15 2025, featuring performances from 18 different artists.

The Festivals lineup includes renowned artists such as Kathleen Edwards, Jeremy Dutcher, Black Mountain, Basia Bulat, SUUNS, TEKE::TEKE, and Begonia. Each artist brings a unique sound, ranging from folk and indie pop to psych-rock and neo-soul.

 

Artist Highlights

    • Kathleen Edwards: Known for her lyrically vulnerable songs paired with strong melodies, Edwards offers an intimate glimpse into personal narratives.
    • Jeremy Dutcher: Dutcher blends classical western orchestration with traditional Indigenous music, creating a distinctive and contemporary sound.
    • Black Mountain: This Vancouver-based group combines early Pink Floyd influences with prog rock and punk elements, delivering a dynamic performance.
    • Basia Bulat: Bulat will premiere songs from her upcoming seventh album, “Basia’s Palace,” showcasing her evolution from folk to indie pop.
    • SUUNS: The band is recognized for their inventive use of wiry guitars and hypnotic synths, offering a raw and danceable industrial sound.
    • TEKE::TEKE: Their performance promises a fusion of surf rock, psychedelia, and unexpected elements like trombone solos and flute melodies.
    • Begonia: As the Midwest princess, Begonia delivers a blend of deconstructed glamour and heartfelt lyricism, maintaining a sincere and engaging presence

 

Block Heater will take place across three different stages, with performances at Palace Theatre, the Central United Church and the Horizon Heating stage at the #1 Legion.
