The town of Coaldale has passed their 2025/26 operating budget but had to find nearly a million diollars in revenue to balance the budget, a requirement under Section 244 of the Municipal Government Act.
Rising inflation and the province’s decision to limit revenue generated from photo radar had a major impact on the upcoming budget decisions.
The town will generate the revenue needed to balance the upcoming budget through tax increases to residential property, taxes will increase by 2.85% – an increase of approximately $63.24 per year per household.
On the non-residential side of the equation, the mill rate will increase by 3.2%, which maintains Coaldale’s position as a low tax environment for its business community.
More information on the 2025/26 operating budget can be found at the town of Coaldale website.
