Last week police services across the province performed their annual holiday check stops and in Medicine Hat, police saw improved numbers compared to the previous year.
The Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) would like to remind those who will be driving to their holiday celebrations to plan to ensure a safe ride home.
In 2023, MHPS charged 330 drivers under the Immediate Roadside Sanction program.
As of Dec. 9, 2024, that number has dropped to 202 drivers who have been charged under the Immediate Roadside Sanction program.
MHPS will conduct more check stops throughout the holiday season with two more scheduled for Dec. 13 and Dec. 21.
Throughout the holiday season, officials want to remind everyone to find alternative methods of getting home after partaking in the holiday spirit.
