The Lethbridge Hurricanes have become the third team in the WHL’s Eastern Conference to clinch a spot in the 2025 WHL playoffs.
The clinch came after a 2-0 blowout victory over the Saskatoon Blades last night at the SaskTel Centre.
Lethbridge’s goals game came from Chase Petersen who achieved his second goal of his WHL career with the Hurricanes in the first period which was assisted by Vojtech Port and Logan McCutcheon who later achieved the second goal of the night in the opening minutes of the second period.
Along with the accomplishments of the Hurricanes, the night also marked Hurricanes’ Goalie Jackson Unger’s first shut out with the team since being traded from the Moose Jaw Warriors as he defended against 29 shots on goal and a strong recovery from a shot that hit the post.
After the success of the night against Saskatoon and on a two-game winning streak, Lethbridge will continue their four-game road trip this Friday as they head to Manitoba to take on the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Currently six of the eight spots for the 2025 playoffs which include the Medicine Hat Tigers, Calgary Hitmen and now the Lethbridge Hurricanes who the sixth team heading to the playoffs which kick off on March 28.
