The Lethbridge Hurricanes are on their last live line as they try to keep their Championship dreams alive as they enter game four against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Fans who attended last night’s game got an electrifying game as the Hurricanes fought hard against the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers in game three of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Cannes dominated the first period, scoring a pair of goals that left the Tigers in the dust, proving they ain’t dead yet, leading 2-0.
However, that lead was short-lived. The Tigers found the thrill of the fight, scoring three goals in the second period. Cannes Captain Noah Chadwick scored his second goal of the night on a power play to keep a one-point lead. The second period ended 4-3.
The battle continued into the third as the tigers were able to tie up the game, which included a short-handed goal by Tigers Mathew Ward, picked up a pass off the boards by Tanner Molendyk.
Brayden Yager of the Cannes was able to achieve a breakaway goal, giving the Cannes a one-goal lead as the last five minutes of the third saw the Hurricanes lead 6-5, but not long after, Tigers Bryce Pickford achieved a goal in the closing minutes, forcing the game to go into overtime.
As both teams entered overtime, the Tigers came out on top in the opening minutes as Tigers Captian Oasiz Wiesblatt assisted by Gavin McKenna, achieved the final goal, giving their third win of the series with a final score of 7-6.
Not only does this signal a nine-game winning streak for the Tigers in the WHL playoffs, but it also marks the seventh loss the Hurricanes have had at the hands of the Tigers, which includes their closing games in the regular season.
Game four will be do or die for the Hurricanes as they play again tonight at the VistLethbridge.com Arena at 7 P.M.
