Canada Post is paying tribute to Indigenous leaders with three new commemorative stamps. These people have devoted their lives to protecting the natural environment, preserving their heritage and advocating for important change. Their contributions have made a difference to their communities and to the country.
This is its fourth set of stamps in a multi-year series honouring the lives and legacies of Indigenous leaders across Canada.
Julia Haogak Ogina, Sophie McDougall and Bruce Starlight will each be featured on a stamp for their dedication to preserving the culture and languages of their Inuit, Métis and First Nations communities.
We got a chance to speak with Bronwyn Graves, Director of Stamps (with Canada Post) to tell us about the three honourees:
All three stamps will be released Friday, a day ahead of National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21.
