The nominations are now open for the 2025 Okimaw Awards.

“Okimaw” is a Cree word that translates to “leader” in English.

These awards, now in their fourth year, aim to honour Indigenous men who are dedicated to serving and uplifting others within the Indigenous community.  The awards are centred around the seven teachings: humility, honesty, respect, courage, wisdom, truth, and love.

Categories for these awards range from leadership in Music, Business, Culture, Environmentalism, Youth Mentorship, and more.

Nominations close August 31, with the awards ceremony scheduled to take place in November 2025 at the atrium of Edmonton City Hall.
