Calgary’s night of music is fast approaching, where its musical community comes together to honour and recognise the talent in the city.

This year’s YYC Music Awards are back at the Grey Eagle for its tenth-year celebration, and this year will include the introduction of a new category of Live Performer of the Year.

One of the standouts at this year’s awards is local Métis Country Artist Ashley Ghostkeeper, who has been nominated for five awards.

This includes Solo Artist of the Year with her single She’s Easy to Love nominated for Single of the Year.

Ghostkeeper posted on Instagram saying, “Thank you to my team, fans, and everyone who’s been a part of this journey so far.. so much more to come.”

The 10th annual YYC Music Awards will also be the second year of the Indigenous Artist of the Year Category, which was created to recognise artists from Calgary and the Area’s Indigenous community.

In the Country Music Category, local artist Drew Gregory is nominated for Country Recording of the Year with his song One For the Road, which put him on the ballot for Single of the Year and Solo Artist of the Year.

Along with the various award categories, the 10th Anniversary of the YYC Music Awards will feature the launch of the Hitmakers Hall of Fame, which will honour award winners who have achieved three awards in a specific category.

The 10th annual YYC Music Awards will be taking place at the Grey Eagle Event Centre on September 28.
