The Siksikaitsitapi Blackfoot Confederacy Tribal Council has a new face as it announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.
Kimmy Shade of the Kainai Nation is recognized for her community service, as she now assumes one of the top leadership roles in the Blackfoot Confederacy.
With the announcement of Shade’s new role on Tuesday, July 29, Shade stated in the announcement on social media that the Blackfoot Nations are at a pivotal moment, as the various Blackfoot Nations on both sides of the border are growing in all sectors.
Shade has 25 years of experience behind her in various leadershiproles which include time as a the Blood Tribe Police Commission Member, leader of Blackfoot Guardianship of the Rocky Mountain East Slopes project, and she currently sits on the Alberta Premier’s Council on Missing and Murdered Indigenous People.
The current Interim Executive Officer, Carol Mason, who took on the role near the beginning of 2025, has returned to her role as Director of Operations of the Blackfoot Chiefs Society.
