The competition is heating up at the Alberta Indigenous Games this week.
Every year, thousands of Indigenous youth from across the province descend on the Edmonton area to try new sports and sharpen their skills at others.
Participants have 15 sports to choose from, including archery, track & field, volleyball and basketball.
Aside from sports, the coaches also teach cultural pride, with some youths smudging or praying before every game.
