Hockey is back, and the WHL teams are entering game two of the 2025/2026 preseason as the weekend rolls in.
As part of the Calgary Hitmen’s commitment to reconciliation, the WHL team hosts its home games at First Nations Hockey Arenas around Calgary.
Tonight is day 1 of a doubleheader against the Red Deer Rebels, as the Hitmen are coming in strong after their 6-2 win down in Lethbridge over the Hurricanes.
Game 1 against the Rebels will be hosted at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex and Jim Starlight Memorial Centre in Tsuut’ina.
The game is one of the many commitments the Hitmen have to reconciliation, and the game in Tsuut’ina is extra special for Hitmen fans as it’s home to former left-wing Brent Dodginghorse, who is the recipient of the 2025 Willie O’ree community hero award.
The 2025/2026 preseason will be a test for the bench as both players and the new Head Coach, Dustin Friesen, become more accustomed to each other before the regular season.
The Hitmen finished 3rd in the Eastern Conference by the end of the 2025 Playoffs.
The Puck drops tonight at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex at 7 p.m.
