As autumn approaches, there will be less daylight hours and new hazards on the road.
Not only are the nights becoming longer, but according to Sergeant Marsh with the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service, with school having just started, drivers can expect to see more pedestrian traffic.
On top of the increased pedestrian traffic in school zones, the temperature is dropping at night, and people can start to expect slick, icy patches to develop.
Sergeant Marsh adds that with it being rutting season, keep an eye out for animals on the road.
As the days become shorter, Sergeant Marsh suggests pedestrians wear reflective clothing, pay attention to the road they are walking near, don’t be distracted, and stay in control of your own safety.
Sergeant Marsh also reminds people to not drink and drive.
