It’s election time in the City of Calgary, and the city has taken major steps to ensure a smooth, effective, and secure election.

A major change due to a new provincial law is counting ballots by hand.

To protect the integrity of the counting, a fleet of 320 brand-new, locking, GPS-tracked, mobile ballot lockers have been secured to be used across the city during the election.

Kate Martin, the City Clerk and Returning Officer, clarified that even if you are not in the Permanent Electors Register, you will still be able to vote:

Quick facts:

Advanced voting, from October 6 to 10, is coming to 42 voting stations across Calgary, and anyone can vote at any of these locations during the advanced voting period.

Election day is on October 20, and on this day, voters must vote at their designated voting station.

Voting support will be available in English and 7 additional languages, including French.

Local schools account for roughly 80% of election locations.
