The Town of Cochrane is inviting their residents to help honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

On September 30, a community led and Town supported event will be happening to honour the day, and everyone is invited to attend.

According to Matt Knox, the Director of Social Development for the Town of Cochrane, there are a few groups and organizations involved in the day.

Throughout the day, there will be a formal portion of the day, Bannock for people to enjoy, and lots of activities for people to participate in.

As part of the formal portion of the day, there will be dancers, a Métis cultural demonstration, and a round dance.

There will be a lot of activities people can enjoy, which Knox explains.

Knox says that the Town has also created some guides to help people learn about Reconciliation further.

The activities will be happening at The Station at Cochrane Crossing from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Knox says that everyone is invited to the day, as it is a family friendly event.

On top of that, Knox explains that Cochrane has a larger than average urban Indigenous population, and the activities the Town is hosting will help to break down barriers.
