Calgarians will be coming together for healing and remembrance next week. The Sixties Scoop Healing Walk takes place October 11th, beginning at The Confluence at 10:30 in the morning. Survivors, families, and supporters will walk in solidarity to honor resilience and raise awareness of the Sixties Scoop.
Susan Bare Shinbone, Program Director at Hull Services, spoke with CJWE about the upcoming third annual Sixties Scoop Healing Walk. Supported by Hull Services, the event will begin with a pipe ceremony and feature dancers and elders sharing teachings at four stops along the walk.
Shinbone emphasized the vital role Elders play in everyone’s lives and reflected on her own healing journey as a Sixties Scoop survivor, guided and supported by Elders along the way.
