A Medicine Hat home was searched and officers found over $100,000 worth of drugs.
A home in Medicine Hat was searched this week, and officers found six figures worth of drugs.
On October 9, the ALERT Organized Crime Unit, along with the RCMP’s Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement Response Team (CLEAR), and the Medicine Hat Police Service executed the search warrant, because it was believed the home was used to alter fentanyl.
The home is located on 12 Street NW, and ALERT believes fentanyl was being combined with other chemicals.
“Although the investigation is ongoing, the substantial amount of drugs and equipment seized has reduced the immediate risk of harm to the community,” stated ALERT Staff Sergeant Ryan Thorburn in a media release.
As a result of the search, ALERT seized:
- 598 grams of fentanyl
- 102 grams of methamphetamine
- 85 grams of cocaine
- 47 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
- 21 milliliters of GHB
- $5,445 in cash
Combined, the drugs have an estimated street value of $135,000.
Two people have been taken into custody and the charges will be forthcoming.
