Fog and freezing rain are hitting the Calgary region

The Calgary region is under two weather alerts this morning (November 7).

From just south of Innisfail to the Claresholm area is under a fog advisory.

In this area, there is near zero visibility due to fog, and patchy fog is expected to last until later this morning,

Environment Canada warns that travel could be hazardous in some locations.

“Be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility and allow extra time to reach your destination. If driving, turn on your lights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance,” Environment Canada says.

For those west of Drumheller, freezing rain is expected.

Environment Canada says a few hours of freezing rain is expected in this area this morning, and ice accumulations of 2 millimetres is possible.

“Roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery. Icy surfaces could be difficult to detect. There is risk of injury due to slips and falls,” the Environment Canada alert states. “Be very careful if walking or driving.”
