Winter has reared its ugly head again this week in Alberta.
In the middle of the province, from the Lacombe area in the north to the American border, is under a Winter Storm Warning.
This area is experiencing hazardous, blizzard-like winter conditions, which will end this evening.
It is expected that total snowfall accumulation will be between 15 and 25 cm, with local amounts reaching 40 cm being possible, particularly in parts of east-central Alberta.
On top of that, strong winds, gusting upwards of 80 km/hr in some areas, are causing poor visibility.
Visibility can suddenly be reduced to near zero at times, and road closures are possible.
In the western part of the province, ranging from just west of Cochrane to the provincial border is under a snowfall warning, as this area can experience between 10 and 20 cm of snow.
The heavy snowfall will end this evening.
In the eastern portion of the province, there is a Blowing Snow Advisory, which covers from Castor in the north to Dunmore in the south.
This region can expect upwards of 15 cm by late this evening.
Strong north to northwest winds gusting up to 70 km/hr will accompany this snowfall, which will cause poor visibility.
Due to the conditions of the roads, the Blood Tribe Police are dealing with a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 2 this morning, and are advising people to avoid this area if possible.
On top of that, but they are advising motorists that Highway 2 (between Standoff and Cardston) and Highway 509 (between Standoff and Lethbridge) are experiencing icy and hazardous conditions.
Siksika Nation are also advising people to refrain from travelling on highways, especially Highway 1, due to the weather.
If travelling is required, reduce your speed and drive to the conditions.
