Cochrane Youth are invited to a new Youth Summit in Cochrane.

Cochrane youth are invited to the first ever Cochrane Youth Summit 2026, which will focus on connection, empowerment, and community leadership.

Cochrane Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) and the Family Resource Network (FRN) invites youth in grades 9 to 12 to participate in the first-ever Cochrane Youth Summit 2026, which is a free, full-day event for local youth.

This Summit will take place on Wednesday, March 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 at the Cochrane RanchHouse, and it will offer an exciting lineup of keynote presentations, interactive workshops, and fun experiences that are designed by and for local youth.

“The Youth Summit is an opportunity for young people in our community to share their voices, build connections and gain tools to make a difference. We are proud to support an event that celebrates youth leadership and creates space for important conversations,” said Mark Knox, Director, Social Development, Community Services, in a release.

As part of this Summit, the day will begin with opening remarks and a blessing from Cree-Métis Elder Cheryle Chagnon-Greyeyes, and then students will hear from keynote speaker Ryan Straschnitzki, who will share his story of resilience following the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.

Straschnitzki will also speak about mental toughness, overcoming adversity, and positivity.

At this summit, participants will be able to choose from a variety of breakout sessions, which will be led by local organizations and community partners.

The breakout sessions will discuss stress management, sleep and mental health, healthy relationships, social media and well-being, resume writing and interview skills, youth housing and mobility, nutrition myths, and Sacred Medicine Wheel teachings.

On top of the breakout sessions, there will be a mobile escape room experience, which will offer a team-building challenge.

Once the afternoon sessions are done, the youth in attendance can visit the “Chill Room: After the Hype,” which features a low-key hangout space and puppies from the Cochrane Humane Society.

Lunch will be provided for participants.
