A grassfire led authorities to human remains south of Eden Valley.
Update:
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes unit has provided an update on the human remains found south of Eden Valley.
On February 4, 2026, at roughly 8:30 p.m., not 9:30 p.m. like it was previously posted, emergency crews responded to a grass fire, which was located south of Eden Valley.
Once the fire was extinguished, a burned vehicle containing unidentified human remains was located, and RCMP Major Crimes was called in and took carriage of the investigation.
On February 26, it was reported that the deceased was identified as a 24-year-old make resident of Calgary, and his heath is suspicious in nature.
Now, the RCMP is needing assistance in the investigation.
Officers are asking for anyone who has surveillance or dash cam video from Feb. 4 between 7 and 8:30 p.m. in Foothills County, on roads near the intersection of Highway 22 and 540.
This is south of Longview, near the Bar-U Ranch historic site.
RCMP is specifically looking for footage of a blue/grey 2022 Dodge Ram pickup with a tonneau cover.

A recent grass fire south of Eden Valley led to the discovery of human remains.
At roughly 9:30 p.m. on February 4, the Foothills Fire Department, Diamond Valley Fire Department, and the High River Fire Department responded to a grass fire that was located south of Eden Valley.
Once the fire was extinguished, a burned vehicle that contained unidentified human remains was located.
As a result, RCMP Major Crimes has taken over the investigation.
