Albertans are able to provide their input on how the province will move forward on nuclear energy in the province.

The Nuclear Energy Survey is open from March 3 to March 24, which is one of the final engagement activities Alberta’s Nuclear Energy Engagement and Advisory are undertaking to help determine how the province will move forward with adding nuclear power to the energy mix to help meet the growing electricity demands.

“Meeting Alberta’s growing electricity needs means securing a strong energy future now. On behalf of the Nuclear Energy Engagement and Advisory Panel, I want to thank everyone who has participated in the engagement process,” explained Chantelle de Jonge, parliamentary secretary with Affordability and Utilities in a media release. “By sharing your thoughts on nuclear power, you’re helping ensure the province’s next steps reflect the values and priorities of everyone who calls Alberta home.”

This survey has come following a series of engagement activities, and since the launch of the nuclear engagement process in August 2025, nearly 5,000 Albertans have shared their feedback during the initial nuclear energy development survey.

40 organizations have also contributed to a request for information, and hundreds of Albertans attended virtual webinars and in-person townhalls.

On top of that, the Nuclear Energy Engagement and Advisory Panel has met directly with Indigenous communities, municipalities, and regional stakeholders.

The feedback that will be gathered through this engagement period will be analyzed and used to inform the panel’s final report, which will be delivered to the Minister of Affordability and Utilities by March 31.

That final report will help to guide the development of a nuclear roadmap for Alberta.
