The Calgary region is currently under multiple weather alerts, due to the snowfall.

There is a Snowfall Warning and a Special Weather Statement for the Greater Calgary Area (CGA).

Snowfall total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected, as a band of heavy snow has stalled in southwestern Alberta, from Canmore to Calgary to Strathmore and just southeast of Calgary, including Okotoks and Vulcan.

The heaviest snowfall should last until around noon, then it will slowly taper off throughout the afternoon.

As a result, travel will be challenging, as roads and walkways will be difficult to navigate due to the accumulating snow.

This snow is also impacting parts of Highway 2 and stretches of Highway 1, both west of Calgary and southeast towards Medicine Hat.

For the region from High River and south, total snowfall amounts remain uncertain with 5 to 15 cm possible in some locations.

Temperatures are expected to rise this weekend, and according to Environment Canada says that any snow that does accumulate will likely melt off quickly, improving travel conditions for the Easter Long Weekend.
