Despite the current snowfall, there is fun to be had in Southern Alberta this Easter Long Weekend

Even though large portions of Southern Alberta are currently being blanketed in snow, it should melt off over the weekend, allowing people to get out and enjoy the long weekend.

Let’s take a look at what’s happening in Southern Alberta this weekend:

 

Friday, April 3:

The Museum of the Highwood in High River will be open all weekend, and their new exhibit, Inspired To Create: Art of the Highwood is on display, which showcases artwork inspired by the Highwood area. They will be open from 9 a.m. to noon all weekend.

At the Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks, the Brooks Bandits will be taking on the Spruce Grove Saints, who are co-owned by Edmonton Oilers Alum, Ryan Smyth. Puck drop will happen at 7 p.m.

 

Saturday, April 4:

At the Southern Alcare Manor in Lethbridge, it is Craft Day, where people will be able to creak their own Ukrainian Egg. This is a free event, and runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

At Kinsmen Park in Lethbridge, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Down in High River, there will be an Easter Eggstravaganza, beginning at 10 a.m. As part of this event, families will explore around the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex, following clues and hints to fill Easter baskets. There will also be family-friendly activities.

At the Taber Community Centre Auditorium, there will be a Broadcast Party, where people will find out the results of the Kraft Hockeyville Challenge. Taber is in the running to be the winner.  Doors open at 3 p.m.

The Regina Pats will be at Co-Op Place in Medicine Hat to take on the Medicine Hat Tigers in their playoff run. Puck drop happens at 7 p.m.

The Spruce Grove Saints will be at Centennial Regional Arena, taking on the Brooks Bandits. Playoff puck drop is happening at 7 p.m.

 

Sunday, April 5:

Okotoks Parallel Church is hosting a Candy Hunt and Easter Service at Viking Rentals Events Centre in Okotoks, with doors opening at 10 a.m.
