In a press conference Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondeck announced that the repair work is done on the water main pipe, but there are still steps to be made to get back to normal.
Next will be a four step process involving filling the pipe, flushing the pipe, letting AHS test the water and getting the pipe to a place of stability before Calgarians will see a full return to service.
The Mayor also wanted Calgarians to know that everyone must still conserve water.
Calgarians used 476 million litres of water Monday. Slightly under the 480 million litre threshold.
If all goes well in the next four steps the timeline could be sooner than July 5th , but they aren’t quite there yet. For up to date information on the water main repair work visit the city of Calgary websites.
