The Town of Coaldale will be receiving a government grant to help build a new potable water reservoir and pump station.

The $4.5 million dollar grant comes from the Government of Albert’s commitment to support rural communities with infrastructure projects across the province.

Town of Coaldale determined back in 2021 that it needed to improve its water infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing population and to ensure it is ready to fight fires.

Mayor of Coaldale Jack Van Rijn says “This grant funding is not just an investment in Coaldale’s water infrastructure.” He continues, “It is an investment in the health, safety, and the long-term prosperity of our community. Water is the lifeblood of our Town, essential for our daily lives, for expanding our business community, and for the meeting projected demands.”

Construction of the new reservoir and pump station is scheduled to begin sometime next month, and officials expect the project to be completed by late 2025.
