The Confluence Historic Site and Parkland will host a special commemoration on September 30th for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The Tipi Circle Camp will mark 150 years, with events running from 10 A.M to 5 P.M.
Blair Cunningham, Indigenous Event and Program Coordinator at the Confluence Historic Site and Compound spoke with CJWE on his excitement for the upcoming event. He adds it’s a chance to highlight that Indigenous people have been connected to the site since time immemorial, and he’s inviting the community to take part in the celebration.
Jennifer Thompson, President of the Confluence Historic Site and Parkland says they’re proud to welcome the community to see tipi’s that will form the circle camp. The display marks 150 years on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and honors the Indigenous peoples who call the land home.
