Original Story:
A Calgary resident has been charged in connection to drug trafficking, after Cochrane RCMP responded to a suspected drug overdose death in the Mînî Thnî area.
Back in early October, the Cochrane RCMP responded to a suspected overdose death in the Mînî Thnî area of Stoney Nakoda Nations.
Cochrane RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) initiated an investigation into the source of the drugs involved, and through that investigation, a suspected drug trafficker was identified.
The suspect resided in Calgary, so the Cochrane RCMP coordinated with the Calgary Police Service Drug Unit to continue the investigation,
As a result of that investigation, the Cochrane CRU and the Calgary Police Service Gang Suppression Team (GST) arrested 58-year-old Calgary resident, Randall Arsenault, on October 29.
Arsenault has been charged with:
- Trafficking a Controlled Substance, contrary to Section 5(1)
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance, contrary to Section 5(2)
When Arsenault was arrested, the police seized approximately 69.5 grams of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
Arsenault was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, and is now scheduled to appear in court on November 5.
