The Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) is celebrating a big milestone! 60 years of standing up for Alberta’s wild spaces and they’re throwing a party!
The 25th Annual Martha Kostuch Wilderness and Wildlife Lecture and Awards Evening is happening Friday, November 14th at the Crescent Heights Community Association in Calgary. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the main program kicking off at 7.
And here’s the best part Taber’s own Corb Lund will be there to accept the 2025 Wilderness Defender Award and deliver the keynote address.
The award-winning country singer-songwriter, known for his deep Alberta roots and love for the land, has released 12 albums (three of them gold!) and still tours across Canada.
The Wilderness Defender Award recognizes folks who go above and beyond to protect Alberta’s environment.
The night will also feature the presentation of the “What’s Your 60?” finisher medallions and the Great Gray Owl Award, which celebrates volunteers and long-time supporters who keep the AWA’s mission alive.
It’s going to be an evening full of music, inspiration, and community all in honour of the wild and beautiful places that make Alberta home.
